2024 NDTA Europe & Africa Workshop Recap

The NDTA Europe & Africa Committee convened the annual NDTA Europe & Africa Workshop in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, June 3. Hosted by the NDTA BENELUX Chapter, 90 representatives attended from the commercial sector, military, and various government agencies.
The event commenced with a moving visit to the Luxembourg American Cemetery to honor the 8,000 American soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War II. This visit was especially significant as it coincided with the 80th anniversary commemorations of D-Day.
In coordination with the NATO Support & Procurement Agency (NSPA), the one-day workshop focused on discussions facilitated by topic experts, including:
- Automating U.S. Military Customs in Europe: CW3 Jean Vega-Jaime, U.S. European Command J4
- Freedom of Movement/Speed of Assembly: John Gallagher, 21stTheater Sustainment Command
- Military Operations Forecasting: Jason Trubenbach, Trailer Bridge Europe
- Coup d’Etats and the Risks Involved: Therese Mefire, ITO Logistics
Participants identified numerous actionable items during these discussions, which will be assigned to regional subcommittees for further exploration and resolution.
The NDTA Europe & Africa Committee is run entirely by volunteers. Special thanks to Tanja van Berkel, Sener (National Air Cargo); Fiona Slabbekoorn (Maersk Lines Limited); Jerry Nickerson (DHL); Brian Jones (American Roll-on/Roll-off Carrier); Jason Trubenbach (Trailer Bridge), and to the Transportation and Warehousing Directorate at NSPA for their cooperation and support.
