Chinese Military Tests Ability to Destroy Enemy Ports and More

China’s Peoples’ Liberation Army (PLA) is examining methods to stealthily destroy a port to cripple an adversary’s capabilities and hinder its ability to fight, a PLA Navy officer explained to state media.

The comments were made following a recent explosive test that was reportedly meant to simulate an attack on a port. The Chinese military detonated the underwater explosives through a PLA Naval Research Academy institute at an unidentified port.

The explosives testing was not the only testing by the PLA in recent weeks. China’s growing military muscle and its drive to end America’s predominance in the Asia-Pacific are concerning US Defense officials who see trouble on multiple fronts including China’s expanding nuclear arsenal, its advances in space, cyber, and missile technologies, as well as threats to Taiwan.
