The Impact of the Scholarships

As a Cadet at The California Maritime Academy studying International Business and Logistics, I plan to work in local Port and Terminal Operations after graduation to help solve our domestic supply chain issues. The NDTA Scholarship has given me tremendous opportunities to make lasting connections within the global transportation field and to prepare for a lifelong career making a difference in our industry!

I am very honored and grateful to have been selected as a national NDTA scholar. This prestigious award helps fund my education at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business in the Global Management Program where I focus on international business and supply chain management. The NDTA has provided excellent career support through the Industry Connect Program where I am able to network and get advice from industry leaders in supply chain management. NDTA Scholarship support has enabled me to explore and deepen my academic and professional interests in the supply chain and international logistics sector.

I would like to convey my great appreciation for the scholarship assistance NDTA provided to me during my time at the University of Virginia. The funds helped ease any concerns I may have had for the financial aspects of my time as a college student. They also enabled me to focus more on my engineering studies and my Navy ROTC training where I had many leadership billets as a midshipman. I graduated in May 2022 with a degree in Systems Engineering and was commissioned as a Navy Ensign. I recently completed primary aviation training in Pensacola, Florida, and have been selected to begin Navy jet pilot training.

The NDTA scholarship has impacted my academic and professional career immensely. The scholarship funds supported me in studying at Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business with a concentration in Supply Chain Management. Having the support while exploring this field at University gave me the chance to understand that Supply Chain was in my blood. My grandfather, and main supply chain supporter, Gene Losa retired as a Colonel in the Army focusing in logistics and always encouraged me to join the NDTA community. The significance of the scholarship stemmed from the supporting funds and evolved into the community that NDTA is and will be supporting my future in the Supply Chain industry.

Being [it] was my last year in college, I am deeply appreciative for the support the NDTA gave me during the conclusion of my college career. This scholarship helped me achieve my goal of graduating Summa Cum Laude in one of the best undergraduate Supply Chain programs in the country. Thank you once again for your academic assistance.

I am incredibly grateful to the NDTA and its members for their support in my receipt of the merit scholarship while a cadet at The California Maritime Academy. This scholarship not only introduced me to the fantastic network of NDTA members and affiliated entities – but also further strengthened my resolve to work in the United States’ domestic maritime industry. The importance of the NDTA, its members, and the Jones Act is paramount to the security and prosperity of this great nation, and I am immeasurably grateful for the support and affiliation with this great organization.
NDTA ALL THE WAY.

I am grateful to be a recipient of the NDTA Scholarship. Receiving this prestigious award helped me and my parents immensely to offset the financial burden that comes with a college education. Upon graduation from California Maritime Academy, I started my career at General Dynamics, NASSCO in San Diego in Supply Chain. It’s been 5 years later, and I’ve had the opportunity for internal growth and movement within the company. I love the transportation industry and so happy I chose a career in shipping. During the past year, we have witnessed the vital role that transportation has played in the movement of goods and services.
