Generosity Abounds Among NDTA Members

NDTA is fortunate to have such wonderful members. While the headquarters staff gets to see and hear about our members’ generosity year-round, we wanted to take the time to share some of the ways NDTA members are supporting worthwhile causes and making the world a better place.

Spreading holiday cheer once again, DHL Express will be delivering 500 fresh-cut Christmas trees, menorahs, gifts, and other decorations, along with thousands of handwritten letters from school children, to US servicemen and women stationed abroad.

Crowley is continuing its dedication to honoring and serving the US military and veterans by serving as the official sponsor at the Puerto Rico National Cemetery for National Wreaths Across America Day this month.

In a uniquely challenging year, more than two dozen fundraising teams from across AIT Worldwide Logistics‘ global network came together to raise $22,621 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. Including the transportation management leader’s promised match, AIT blew past its initial $30,000 giving goal for a final donation of $45,242.

Matson has committed $5 million in cash and in-kind shipping services to the foodbank networks supporting families in need in Hawaii, Alaska, and Guam. Already a longtime financial supporter in those communities, Matson will provide the foodbanks with ocean shipping of food supplies at no cost for the remainder of 2020 and all of 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Through the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, Enterprise Holdings is elevating its focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion with a new five-year, $55 million commitment to organizations that advance social and racial equity in communities around the world. The Foundation is also pledging an additional $65 million into Enterprise Fill Your Tank, a program launched in 2016 that has contributed more than $50 million to address food insecurity in local communities.

Suddath® recently participated in the annual Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive, collecting gently-used sweaters and other winter apparel to be donated to area nonprofit organizations. “Last year, Suddath added ‘Caring’ as one of our core values, which honors our tradition of philanthropy and giving back to the communities where we operate,” said Scott Perry, President of Suddath Moving and Logistics.

The Transportation Institute, American Federation of Teachers, and First Book have launched BookWaves, a coalition of unions, US shipping companies, and non-profit organizations that have united to provide more than 100,000 free books to students and families to support distance learning during the COVID-19 crisis.
