For the past nine years, NDTA has collected new, unwrapped toys for the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, which distributes toys to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas. This year, NDTA’s members and friends generously donated more than 300 toys and more than $1,500 toward the effort.
“Toys for Tots is a great way for NDTA and its membership to give back to the community, especially the youngest members of the community, the kids,” said Rear Adm. (Ret.) Mark Buzby, NDTA’s president and CEO. “Knowing that we are making a difference in their lives, and helping to put a smile on their face is what the spirit of Christmas is all about.”
In particular, NDTA recognizes International Auto Logistics and Bennett Motor Express, LLC, for each providing $500 contributions this year.
Several NDTA corporate members also participated, including: Agility Defense & Government Services; ARG; Arven Freight Forwarding; Avis Budget Group; Best Western International; Crane Worldwide Logistics; Maersk Line, Limited; and Oakwood Worldwide.
NDTA celebrated the donations and the spirit of the holidays at a small reception December 8 in Alexandria, Va. Representatives of the U.S. Marine Corps packed up all the toys for delivery.
“As always, our membership has been superior in assisting us in this campaign to benefit such a highly rated charity,” said Patty Casidy, NDTA vice president of finance and organizer for the association’s Toys for Tots collection. “I am so happy that we can put a smile on so many children’s faces for Christmas.”
The National Defense Transportation Association is a non-political, non-profit educational organization in logistics, transportation and passenger travel services. Since World War II, NDTA has served U.S. national defense and homeland security as a trusted environment where government, military, and private sector experts can build working relationships, develop the next generation of professionals and solve pressing challenges.
