The National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) and the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO), in association with the General Services Administration (GSA), are excited to host the 2023 GovTravels Symposium, February 27-March 1, 2023. The 2023 GovTravels theme “On the Road Again – Industry & Government Travel Rebounds”, promotes optimism for the future of travel and improving the government traveler experience. But the optimism begs the logical question . . . how and what’s next? You’ll get an inside look, and perhaps a front-row seat, to see, hear and discuss what’s coming with many industry experts and leaders.

TOPIC: Turning the page. What’s Next for Air Travel?

Andrew Watterson serves the People of Southwest Airlines as Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Andrew’s Executive guidance shapes the strategy, design, and performance of the operation of the world’s largest point-to-point air carrier, the world’s most awarded airline.

Andrew assumed the role of COO in October 2022, and previously served as Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, his most recent executive appointment since joining Southwest as Vice President of Network Planning and Performance in October 2013.  Andrew also served four years in the U.S. Army intelligence in the mid-1990s, including time served in Panama.

Learn from Mr. Watterson about the early days of the global pandemic that brought 2020 air travel to an abrupt halt. He will discuss interaction with lawmakers on Capitol Hill, meetings with the Vice President, and Southwest’s leadership to promote safety and security protocols amidst the pandemic.
