Post Pandemic Travel Industry Challenges
The National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) and the Defense Travel Management Office (DTMO) in association with the General Services Administration (GSA) are excited to host the 2023 GovTravels Symposium, February 27 – March 1, 2023, at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center in Alexandria, VA. The symposium features a valuable and timely “Post Pandemic Travel Industry Challenges” panel.
NDTA welcomes panel moderators Mr. William R. Mansell Jr, and Mr. Tim Burke.
Mr. Mansell is the Director for the Defense Support Services Center and member of the Senior Executive Service. As Director, Mr. Mansell ensures critical support services are provided to the Department’s military and civilian personnel that enhance national security, mission readiness, resiliency, and reintegrations.
Mr. Burke has served as the Director of the Office of Travel, Employee Relocation, and Transportation, Federal Acquisition Services (FAS) since 2007. In these tri-lateral and matrixed leadership roles, he provides government-wide strategic direction and his expansive leadership is building the framework for Travel and Expense as a future shared service.
The panel will explore the challenges the passenger travel industry is experiencing coming out of the pandemic including labor shortages (staff, driver, pilot), passenger wait times, cancelations and its impact on government travel. They will discuss bright spots and if there is enough capacity to meet surge requirements. Mr. Mansell and Mr. Burke will be joined by other panelists holding pertinent travel industry leadership roles.
