SFPC, brought to you by the National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) and Christopher Newport University’s Center for American Studies (CAS), offers an unparalleled educational and networking experience. You’ll have the opportunity to engage with experienced government and industry attendees at insightful panel sessions and interact with exhibitors. The 2024 SFPC theme, “Ready Now – Contested Joint Force Deployments to & through Strategic Ports,” promises to provide a deeper understanding of our current defense landscape.
Today NDTA and CAS introduce Capt. Jennifer Stockwell, USCG, Commander, Coast Guard Sector Virginia, who will lead a unique panel discussion, “Physical Threats to Ports and What To Do About it.”
Capt. Jennifer Stockwell assumed duties as Commander, Sector Virginia in June 2022, after serving two years as deputy commander. As Sector Commander, she leads 1,200 Coast Guardsman and Auxiliary personnel, among three cutters, six small boat stations, three aids to navigation teams, and a Sector Field Office conducting all Coast Guard missions in Virginia waters and offshore. Her official authorities include Captain of the Port, Officer in Charge of Marine Inspection, Federal On-Scene Coordinator, Federal Maritime Security Coordinator, and Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator.
Capt. Stockwell will moderate the panel discussion in understanding potential threats to deployment readiness focused on port infrastructure and operations, and will be joined by a panel including Mr. Bill Burket, Director of the Maritime Incident Response Team and Emergency Operations for the Port of Virginia, a representative from the Mine Countermeasures Group (MCMGRU) 3 and a leader from the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC).
