Instructor: Irvin Varkonyi, SCOPE, and Gregory Schlegel, SCRM Consortium
Join us for an interactive session discussing Risk Appetite, Risk Tolerance, and company Culture. The session will include definitions of terms, grounding of risk concepts, and an interactive Group Risk Appetite Exercise. We’ll finish with a few helpful hints about Risk Culture as it relates to the Warfighting agencies.
We’ll begin with a few basic definitions of Supply Chain Risk & Resiliency. (SCR&R) We’ll get everyone grounded by introducing the concept of VUCA, Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity. We provide a brief glimpse of the pandemic, from our point of view. We’ll talk about what we call the “W-Like” Recovery, which we called out in March of 2020, and the BULLWHIP Effect. We’ll provide definitions of Risk Appetite, its Four Perspectives, and Four Strategies. Then we’ll facilitate a Group Exercise, ask the audience to render opinions about risk, and populate our “Likert-type Response Chart” We’ll conclude with a few messages aligned to the Warfighter agencies, in an effort to improve READINESS by being better Prepared and more Responsive to risk than your adversary.
