The Marine Society of the City of New York Honors ARC President & CEO Eric Ebeling
American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier (ARC) President & CEO Eric Ebeling was honored by the Marine Society of the City of New York at its 253rd annual dinner in Manhattan on Monday, March 27.
Captain Timothy J. Ferrie, President of the Marine Society of the City of New York thanked all in attendance for their support and noted, “throughout its history, the Society has recognized people who have contributed their time and knowledge to the maritime community. The Society recognizes Mr. Ebeling’s contributions to the U.S. Flag and merchant marine, not only through his service in leading the largest U.S.-flag Ro-Ro carrier, which provides vital jobs to mariners, but also in his support of our industry’s next generation – a mission that we at the Marine Society also hold dear.”
Mr. Ebeling spoke on the importance of the mutually beneficial Industry-Labor-Government public-private partnership, stating, “as a maritime nation, the United States clearly relies on a strong U.S.-flag fleet and its merchant marine to successfully maintain our national security, economic security, supply chain security, and labor security. Absent an understanding of the reasons underlying the success of the U.S.-flag international fleet, we risk the decline or disappearance of an active U.S.-flag fleet operating in international commerce, along with all the benefits that attach to it for our nation. Thank you to the Marine Society for the integral role it plays in this effort, and for this prestigious honor.”
American Maritime Officers (AMO) National President Paul Doell noted, “Eric Ebeling is a savvy, second-generation U.S.-flag merchant fleet manager whose instinct and business acumen sustain both jobs for U.S. merchant mariners and vital defense shipping assets that serve U.S. national security where needed, when needed. He has promoted the American maritime industry in testimony before Congressional committees and has been acknowledged for his career at ARC through presentation of the prestigious Admiral of the Ocean Sea Award. We in AMO are pleased and privileged to congratulate Eric on this special occasion, and we thank the Marine Society of New York for honoring our friend and colleague.”
