Trump’s Transportation Department Announces Record-Low Traffic Deaths & Fatality Rates in 2025
(transportation.gov) The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that traffic deaths fell to record lows in 2025. With an estimated 36,640 traffic fatalities in 2025 — a 6.7% decrease from 2024 — the nation saw its second-lowest traffic fatality rate in recorded history at 1.10 fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles traveled. (transportation.gov) U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced that the Maritime Administration (MARAD) will invest $35 million into revitalizing America’s small shipyards.
The investment will go towards:
- Upgrading ship repair and construction facilities
- Purchasing new equipment, including cranes, plasma cutters, and welding systems
- Bolstering maritime training programs to supercharge the maritime workforce

DLA Energy’s Supply Chain Fuels Artemis II Mission

(war.gov) When NASA’s Artemis II mission launched April 1, its success relied on a complex and critical supply chain managed by the Defense Logistics Agency Energy. DLA Energy provided more than 21,000 pounds of highly specialized propellants essential for the Orion spacecraft’s historic flight, sending humans on a journey around the moon for the first time in more than 50 years. - Program C – for currently enrolled, distance learning college students
- Program D, The Denny Edwards Graduate Scholarship – for graduate (master’s degree) students

U.S. Marine Corps Flies Heavy Truck by Helicopter
(defense-blog.com) A U.S. Marine Corps CH-53K King Stallion helicopter assigned to Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One lifted a Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement during a heavy lift training exercise at Auxiliary Airfield II in Yuma, Ariz., on March 31, as part of the Weapons and Tactics Instructor course 2-26.
The exercise is part of a seven-week training event hosted by MAWTS-1 that brings together the most demanding integration tasks Marine aviation performs in support of the Marine Air Ground Task Force, as well as joint and coalition partners.
200-kg Lift Capacity: Poland Launches Autonomous Helicopter for Logistics Ops
(thedefensepost.com) Poland is advancing battlefield logistics with a new autonomous cargo helicopter capable of hauling 200 kilograms (440 pounds) even in GPS-denied or electronic warfare environments. Known as KURIER, it can reach speeds of up to 112 miles per hour, remain airborne for 3 to 10 hours, and operate at altitudes up to 13,123 feet.
Tiltrotor Who? U.S. Military Helicopter Deliveries Rose 13 Percent in 2025
(defenseone.com) With all the talk of tiltrotors, you’d be forgiven for believing the era of conventional rotorcraft is winding down. But last year, the big three American rotorcraft manufacturers — Bell, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky — delivered a combined 199 military rotorcraft: 13 percent more than in 2024.
Marines Test Custom-built Drone in Live Fire Test, Strike Unmanned Surface Vessel
(USNI.org) Marines from the III Expeditionary Operations Training Group (III EOTG) and operators from Naval Special Warfare conducted the maritime drone strike from a Naval Special Warfare surface craft, taking out an unmanned surface vessel designed and built by the Marine team. The trial, held in Okinawa, Japan, in March, marks the latest Marine Corps drone test this year.
Navy Creating New Marketplace for Maritime Drones as it Looks to ‘Surge Capacity’ for Golden Fleet

U.S. Army Seeks Sled-mounted Air Defense for Light Infantry
(defensenews.com) The U.S. Army wants mobile short-range air defense for light infantry forces that lack the ability to transport heavy equipment. The service is looking for sled- or pallet-mounted weapons that can be hauled by light manned and unmanned vehicles during joint forced entry, or JFE, operations such as airborne assaults, according to an Army Request for Information.
