2025 NDTA Foundation Scholarships

NDTA is excited about the education and professional development of our nation’s future logistics and transportation leaders and is offering four scholarship opportunities for members and their children.
- Program A – for currently enrolled college students
- Program B – for soon-to-be high school graduates accepted at an accredited institution
- Program C – for currently enrolled, distance learning college students
- Program D – The Denny Edwards Graduate Scholarship for graduate (master’s degree) students
All scholarship winners will receive a unique opportunity to join our Industry Connect Program (ICP), which links interested students with an industry mentor to help them bridge to the future. More information can be found here.

California, Nevada, Wyoming Guard Join Firefighting Battle
MOFFETT AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Calif. (AFNS) – Hundreds of National Guard members are now involved in multiple air and ground firefighting efforts as wildfires rage across the Los Angeles Basin and Southern California. More than 1,850 Guard members from California, Nevada and Wyoming are activated.
Multiple C-130 Hercules aircraft equipped with Modular Aerial Fire Fighting Systems are in the air. The MAFFS-equipped aircraft, which drop fire retardant from the air, are from the Air National Guard’s 146th Airlift Wing in California, 152nd Airlift Wing and 192nd Airlift Squadron in Nevada, 153rd Airlift Wing and 187th Airlift Squadron in Wyoming, and the 302nd Airlift Wing and 731st Airlift Squadron, US Air Force Reserve units based in Colorado Springs. The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced more than $332 million for 171 grants across 32 states to modernize airports through the Airport Infrastructure Grants (AIG) program. In total, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law included $25 billion over five years for airport and air traffic control infrastructure improvements, such as airport planning, development, sustainability, terminal expansions, baggage system upgrades, runway safety enhancements, and noise compatibility projects. Port Strike Averted, But US Import Surge Expected to Continue
A potential crisis at US East and Gulf Coast ports has been averted as the International Longshoremen’s Association and US Maritime Alliance reached a tentative six-year labor agreement, preventing what would have been the second strike in four months.

Navy Names Two New Ford-Class Aircraft Carriers After Presidents Clinton and Bush
(gCaptain.com) Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro revealed that two future Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carriers will be named USS William J. Clinton (CVN 82) and USS George W. Bush (CVN 83), marking the first time either former president has been honored with a naval vessel namesake. Secretary Del Toro stated that both presidents “led the United States through some of the most challenging moments in US history.”
Naval Information Warfare Center Awards BlueHalo $50M for UAS Electronic Warfare Sensors
(Breaking Defense) The Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific awarded $49.9 million to space and electronic warfare (EW) company BlueHalo to develop technology and provide support for sensors on uncrewed aerial systems (UAS).
The award calls for BlueHalo to “deliver hardware, materials and components, engineering services, and integration and operational support” for modular payload EW sensors used on UAS by the US Navy and US Special Operations Command (SOCOM).
Navy Shipbuilding Plan Would Cost $1 Trillion Over the Next 30 Years
(Military Times) For the US Navy to achieve a proposed plan to expand its fleet of battle force ships, the service would need to spend $40.1 billion on shipbuilding every year through 2054, for a total of more than $1 trillion, according to new analysis from the Congressional Budget Office. Over the next 30 years, the Navy wants to grow its current fleet of 295 battle force ships to 381.
Ohio Guided Missile Submarine Deployed Underwater Drones on Award Winning Secret Missions
(The War Zone) It has emerged that the US Navy’s Ohio class guided missile submarine USS Michigan used uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs) in the course of operations between October 2022 and January 2024. During that time, the boat and its crew completed at least three secretive “national security” missions, as well as ones involving special operations forces, “in hostile and challenging environments.”
Stealthy AGM-158C Long-Range Anti-Ship Missiles to Arm F-15EX, F-15E
(The War Zone) The arsenals of the US Air Force’s F-15E Strike Eagle and F-15EX Eagle II combat jets look set to grow with the addition of stealthy AGM-158C Long-Range Anti-Ship Missiles (LRASMs). F-15Es and EXs armed with LRASMs would give the Air Force a major boost in its ability to engage enemy warships, which could be particularly valuable in any future high-end fight in the Pacific against China.
Crowley Acquires Main Line Inc., Expanding Harbor Services with Mooring Capabilities
Crowley has expanded its harbor services capabilities through the acquisition of Main Line Inc., a vessel mooring company based in Seattle, effective Jan. 1. The addition of Main Line will provide Crowley’s customers calling on the ports of Seattle and Tacoma, Washington, with a comprehensive solution for their vessel mooring and ship assist needs. Main Line is a longtime provider of vessel mooring services in the Pacific Northwest for ship operators who value safe and dependable mooring service.

TOTE Group Announces Acquisition of Aqua Gulf as Part of New Logistics Focus
Aqua Gulf will join TOTE Group as part of TOTE Logistics, a new business area. In addition to Aqua Gulf, TOTE Group announced that Carlile, Naniq Global Logistics and Shoreside Logistics will also join TOTE Logistics as of Jan. 1, 2025. Together, these companies provide a breadth of services from Hawaii and Alaska across the mainland to Puerto Rico. Mike Noone, Chief Operating Officer at TOTE Group, will assume the role of President of TOTE Logistics overseeing these companies.
