Register today for the 12th annual NDTA-USTRANSCOM Fall Meeting scheduled for October 7-10, 2024 at the St. Louis Union Station Hotel, St. Louis, MO. Government, military and industry partners will gather to collaborate, share experiences, and discuss solutions and impacts related to the 2024 Fall Meeting theme. The theme, “Accelerating Decision Advantage Across Defense Transportation & Logistics,” aligns our discussions with a very important USTRANSCOM priority and focuses the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise on the need to orient, decide and act faster than the adversary. The Fall Meeting includes General Sessions, Meetings, an Expo Hall, and the Transportation Academy featuring 65 plus sessions covering relevant logistics and transportation topics. Air Travel Consumer Report: April 2024 Numbers
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) released its Air Travel Consumer Report (ATCR) on airline operational data compiled for the month of April 2024 for on-time performance, mishandled baggage, and mishandled wheelchairs and scooters. For April 2024, 0.7% of flights were cancelled, lower than both the 1.7% cancellation rate for April 2023 and the 2.4% cancellation rate for pre-pandemic April 2019. […READ MORE…]

HII Awarded $78M for Quality of Life Improvements at Newport News
(USNI.org) The Navy issued HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding a $78 million contract modification for quality-of-life improvements that includes an 80,000 sq. ft. facility for sailors who are working on aircraft carriers undergoing their mid-life refueling overhaul, according to Naval Sea Systems Command. The building, which will include office spaces, a fitness center, and counseling offices, is slated for completion by June 2026.
U.S. and Philippine Coast Guards Conduct Bilateral Search and Rescue Exercise
(dvidshub.net) The U.S. Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard joined together to conduct a bilateral U.S.-Philippine search and rescue exercise in the South China Sea, July 16. Operations included a joint sail and conducting search and rescue (SAR) training, personnel transfer evolutions, and bilateral sailing.
Army Unit Deploys Hypersonic Weapon in Navy-led Exercise
(USNI.org) An Indo-Pacific-assigned U.S. Army unit designed to counter anti-access area denial networks deployed its Long-Range Hypersonic Weapon, known as Dark Eagle, for the first time June 25-27. The Navy-hosted exercise demonstrated the missile’s ability to integrate and contribute to the kill chain.
Pentagon Resumes Purchases of New F-35 Jets After Year Delay
(TheHill.com) The Defense Department has resumed the purchase of F-35s from defense contractor Lockheed Martin after more than a year of pausing the acquisition of newer versions of the fighter jets. Two of the newer F-35 Lightning IIs were delivered recently to Dannelly Field, Ala., and Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., the F-35 Joint Program Office.
Volunteer or Voluntold: Marines Announce Special Duty Assignment Campaign for Active Reserves
(Military.com) The Marine Corps announced a campaign to draw certain Marines into special duty assignments, an annual push to fill some of its most critical jobs. The campaign is aimed at Active Reserve Marines, a small component within the Corps that serves full-time in the reserves and provides support for reserve units.
US Air Force, Boeing Reach Deal on Prototype E-7
The Air Force has reached an agreement with Boeing to build the first rapid prototype E-7 battle management aircraft. The contract terms should be wrapped up next month, Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said at the Royal International Air Tattoo air show. The completion of this deal would resolve complicated negotiations between the Air Force and Boeing stemming from the service’s special requirements for its version of the E-7.
CGI announces its selection as a technology partner for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to help the Bureau lower costs and increase project and program success through modernization of their IT systems. CGI’s selection enables the company to bid on task orders under a blanket purchase agreement (BPA), which carries a ceiling value of $8 billion.
Deloitte Wins $2.4B GSA Contract to Help Address Submarine Workforce & Industrial Base Challenges
Deloitte Consulting has won a potential $2.4 billion contract from the General Services Administration (GSA) to help meet the submarine workforce and industrial base requirement. According to an award notice, the company will serve as an enterprise integration partner under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract and work with the Department of Defense’s Innovation Capability and Modernization Office and the U.S. Navy to identify, build, and deliver holistic solutions to regional and broader challenges facing the submarine workforce and industrial base.
