(www.transportation.gov) U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy today announced a new interagency effort to attract more of America’s veterans into pursuing careers in trucking. The new initiative – called Freedom Haulers – is a patriotic hiring campaign that educates veterans on how there’s never been a better time to join the trucking industry, outlines why veterans’ backgrounds make them a great fit for the job, and connects them with resources to seamlessly transition from service to driving a big rig.
Led by the Department of Transportation, the Freedom Haulers campaign includes contributions from the Department of Veteran Affairs, the Department of War, and the Department of Labor. USMC Just Took Delivery of Its Last MV-22 Osprey
(www.twz.com) Two decades after the tiltrotor MV-22B Osprey first achieved initial operational capability, the U.S. Marine Corps on Tuesday received its final delivery of these controversial aircraft, closing the books at 359 of them. While the Osprey fleet is expected to keep flying through 2055, the Corps is eyeing a replacement, dubbed the Next Generation Assault Support (NGAS) aircraft.
USCG Seeking Technology to Hunt and Kill Uncrewed Underwater Vehicles
(www.twz.com) Faced with a growing threat from uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs), the USCG is seeking technology not just to detect these weapons, but to defeat them. Ports and other maritime facilities are vulnerable to this kind of attack vector, and our adversaries surely know it. The effort is being led by the Coast Guard Futures Development and Integration (FD&I) Directorate, which oversees research, modeling and simulation, technology forecasting, and field experimentation.
U.S. Army Fields 2,175-mile Range Hypersonic Missile During War Exercise Near China
The U.S. Army has confirmed that it deployed its Dark Eagle hypersonic missile system during the Valiant Shield 2026 exercise in the Western Pacific last month, according to War Department photos. The photos surfaced nearly a month after the exercise ended, highlighting the growing role of long-range ground-based missiles are becoming more important in U.S. military planning for the Indo-Pacific.
U.S. Navy Submarine Arrives in Scotland for Scheduled Port Visit
(www.navy.mil) Virginia-class attack submarine USS Oregon (SSN 793) arrived at His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde in Faslane, Scotland, for a scheduled port visit, July 20, 2026. The visit is part of the submarine’s routine deployment to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations. While in Faslane, the submarine will conduct routine maintenance and replenish essential supplies.
U.S. Navy Moving Forward on West Coast Dock for Aircraft Carrier
(www.militarytimes.com) Concerned by the lack of docks on the West Coast that can service large vessels such as aircraft carriers, the U.S. Navy is moving forward with plans to build a new dock at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. The Navy recently published a notice for a massive, multi-award contract — worth up to $30 billion — for the multi-mission dry dock.

Maersk Deploys Next-generation Connectivity Technology for Its Reefers
(www.maersk.com) Maersk has begun the roll-out of its next generation IoT connectivity devices for its fleet of refrigerated containers (reefers). The aim is to install the new devices on all reefers in the Maersk fleet the coming years. Currently, Maersk is in the process of completing the roll-out of its new digital connectivity platform aboard 450 vessels paving the way for smarter cargo tracking and management solutions in the future.
United and Delta Become Latest Airlines to Ban Humanoid Robots from All Flights
(simpleflying.com) United Airlines and Delta Air Lines have joined a growing list of carriers prohibiting passengers from transporting humanoid robots on their aircraft, extending restrictions to both cabin baggage and checked luggage. The policies come as airlines respond to the emergence of increasingly lifelike robots that present operational, safety, and handling challenges not addressed by traditional baggage rules.
