U.S. Marine Corps Commandant General Eric M. Smith has signed the U.S. Marine Corps Training and Education Annual Report (TEAR), June 12, 2024. Published and distributed by Commanding General U.S. Marine Corps Training and Education Command (TECOM) Lieutenant General Kevin M. Iiams, the TEAR is the first annual report since the publishing of Training and Education 2030 (TE2030) by General David H. Berger, the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps. U.S. Department of Transportation Names Newest FAA Management Advisory Council Members
(Transportation.gov) The U.S. Department of Transportation appointed six new members and reappointed four members to the Federal Aviation Administration’s Management Advisory Council (MAC). The 13-member MAC advises the FAA’s senior management on policy, spending, long-range planning and regulatory matters.
The newest members represent a cross-section of public and private sector transportation and business leaders who share the Department’s commitment to enhancing aviation safety in a rapidly evolving world.

TSA Now Accepts Digital IDs from These Nine States
(Forbes.com) Nearly 70 million Americans are now eligible to fly within the U.S. with a digital ID stored on their phones. At more than two dozen U.S. airports, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security checkpoints will accept a digital ID in lieu of a physical ID that is issued by Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, New York, or Utah.
U.S. Test-Fires Two Unarmed Minuteman III Ballistic Missiles
(Defense News) The U.S. military test-fired two unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles recently. The tests, which involved the Air Force and Space Force, took place from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, Air Force Global Strike Command. The Command oversees two legs of the U.S. nuclear triad, which is made up of land-, submarine- and bomber-launched nuclear weapons.
Air Force, Space Force Unveil Tool for AI Experimentation
(Air Force Times) The Air Force and Space Force launched a generative AI tool to encourage airmen and guardians to experiment with using the technology for tasks like summarizing reports, IT assistance and coding. The tool, called the Non-classified Internet Protocol Generative Pre-training Transformer, or NIPRGPT, would help the services better understand how AI could improve access to information.
Russian Flotilla Off Florida Coast Sparks Deployment of U.S. Navy Destroyers, Planes
(Military.com) The Pentagon deployed three Navy destroyers and maritime patrol aircraft last week to keep tabs on a group of Russian ships that conducted missile exercises and reportedly got within 30 miles of the Florida coast.
Advocates Urge Lawmakers to Up Pay Rates for Vets Unable to Work
(Stars and Stripes) Veterans advocacy groups urged House lawmakers last week to update eligibility rules and payment rates for the “individual employability” program that gives a tax-free monthly benefit to veterans who are unable to work but lack a 100 percent disability rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Under the program, veterans are eligible for full VA disability benefits after providing a work history of five years or more that shows problems obtaining and keeping employment.
Trailer Bridge Moves into European Market with First Location in Frankfurt, Germany
Trailer Bridge announced its move into the European market with the launch of Trailer Bridge Europe (TBE). The new business unit will be based in Frankfurt, Germany, and led by industry veteran Jason Trubenbach. TBE will provide end-to-end supply chain solutions for commercial and government shippers working closely with the company’s U.S.-based Government and International Divisions. Together, they will provide solutions for landside transportation and ocean shipping needs, warehousing solutions, freight forwarding, air transport and unique contract-specific services.
Southwest Airlines Ranked Top Airline on Forbes America’s Best Employers for Veterans
Southwest Airlines is ranked as the top airline on Forbes America’s Best Employers for Veterans List, which recognizes employers who create workplaces where former and current military members can thrive. Forbes partnered with a market research firm and surveyed 8,500 veterans working for companies with more than 1,000 employees. Southwest ranked No. 1 out of the 150 highest ranking companies.
BNSF Automotive Facilities Recognized as Best in North America
Two of BNSF Railway’s automotive facilities, operated by service partner Inter-Rail Group, were recognized recently by the Association of American Railroads (AAR) as some of the best in North America. Kansas City Auto received Origin of the Year, with a score of 99.45%, and San Diego Automotive was awarded Destination of the Year, with a score of 99.98%. The awards were accepted at the Damage Freight Prevention Convention, held in Minneapolis.
PODS® Unveils Fourth Annual Moving Trends Report
PODS Enterprises, LLC, recently released its fourth annual Moving Trends Report identifying the top 20 cities Americans are fleeing from, and flocking to, in 2024. The report identified the Carolinas and Appalachians as new hotspots, based on an analysis of consumer movements during the past 15 months, and environmental and economic factors that inspired these trends.
