Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, domestic cargo theft accounted for $15B-$30B in losses annually, and worldwide more than $60B. Port congestion caused by pandemic shipping disruptions resulted in over 15,000 TEU’s breached in LA County the last quarter of 2021, with high-value goods and weapons targeted. The Department of Homeland Security and the US Air Force Title III have partnered with private industry to commercialize secure ISO shipping containers with tracking, door open alert, and six-sided penetration detection including the establishment of domestic manufacturing capability. This presentation includes development of secure shipping technology capability and ongoing and projected field trials.

Simpler Faster Data Analytics – USTRANSCOM’s Journey to Advana

A look at the history and current status of USTRANSCOM’s transition from an in-sourced data lake to the Department of Defense’s Advancing Analytics (Advana). The course will review the history of USTRANSCOM’s and Advana’s journey, will provide an overview of USTRANSCOM’s Pegasus enclave within Advana, introduce the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Accelerator (ADA) initiative, discuss the Data Operations process framework being used within the Chief Data Office, and demonstrate several developed dashboards within Advana’s Qlik visualization tool.
