NDTA Surface Committee
On 8 May 2018, Mr. John Collins, NDTA Surface Committee Chairman, co-chaired the NDTA Surface Committee Meeting with Major General Stephen E. Farmen, USA, Commanding General of the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), the Army Service Component Command to the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) in O’Fallon Illinois (near Scott Air Force Base.) Over the past two years, General Farmen, and former Commanding General, Major General Kurt Ryan, focused discussions with the NDTA Surface Committee on transporters’ readiness. Installations and representatives from the rail and trucking industries were in attendance.
General Darren McDew, USAF, Commander, USTRANSCOM, refers to the Air, Ocean and Surface carriers as USTRANSCOM’s fourth component. USTRANSCOM has demonstrated that they value NDTA and the goal to: Maintain that trusted environment by facilitating strong working relationships, education and the exchange of ideas.
